Just like the rest of the world at the moment. Ive been really into RnB and have been loving the comeback its making. This lofi RnB / Funk / Beats takeover comes from a little of all genres. A bookmark in time, Ghost Modernism. The reverby emotion it conveys is right down our alley here. And have been loving all the new acts that have been popping up. Shigeto Promo Ghostly mix for Mix Mag

Shigeto mixed the top artists from the trend setting and industry benchmarking label Ghostly for Mix Mag. The result, bliss, as to be expected. I got chills throughout the whole mix starting as soon as he brought in Mux Mool’s “Ruin Everything” off of his latest release, and not stopping until my favorite track, “Please Stay”, off of Shigeto’s own latest album ended the set. This ones on repeat for most of the day today. I can’t seem to get enough of it. This weeks Bummer Bliss.

CFCF, DO U LIKE NIGHT BUS?

CFCF has always been a favorite of ours here at bummer bit. Most of you have probably heard his Night Bus II mix, But do you know where that came from?  Spawned from Burials  2009 track “Night Bus“. CFCF took that sound and made a themed mix making it his own. With haunting slow  dragged and drugged out sounds similar to the chop and screwed sound Dj Screw and Houston area rappers made so popular. CFCF’s mix was something different. Something dark, something more emotional. Tying in Burials sound that brings in a haunting emotional feel. A feeling of being alone, Of riding alone in the dark….. on a Night Bus.

Shallow rewards has described it perfectly:

“That perhaps this was a better phrase for the uniquely dissociative sense of privacy and freedom one feels—protected from their everyday identity, from familiar faces and places—on a bus, at night, in the experiential vacuum of transit. Departed, yet to arrive, and deeply alone.”
