CFCF, DO U LIKE NIGHT BUS?

CFCF has always been a favorite of ours here at bummer bit. Most of you have probably heard his Night Bus II mix, But do you know where that came from?  Spawned from Burials  2009 track “Night Bus. CFCF took that sound and made a themed mix making it his own. With haunting slow  dragged and drugged out sounds similar to the chop and screwed sound Dj Screw and Houston area rappers made so popular. CFCF’s mix was something different. Something dark, something more emotional. Tying in Burials sound that brings in a haunting emotional feel. A feeling of being alone, Of riding alone in the dark….. on a Night Bus.

Shallow rewards has described it perfectly:

“That perhaps this was a better phrase for the uniquely dissociative sense of privacy and freedom one feels—protected from their everyday identity, from familiar faces and places—on a bus, at night, in the experiential vacuum of transit. Departed, yet to arrive, and deeply alone.”

Shallow Rewards also has a slew of Night Bus mixes of their own worth checking out here: Shallow Rewards Night Bus Mixes

Bwana – Over & Done EP Preview

I just recently found the label Infinite Machine, and i’m extremely impressed. Bwana was one of the many artists such as ∆dmin, BRUISES, Runamucker, etc… This is a little preview of his album that per Kudos records will be available Feb 6th. Its out for preorder as of Jan 21st. Bwana is everything I want my future garage to sound like. Will probably miss out on this vinyl though and go for the digital. Vinyl is limited to 300 copies and seems it will go fast. Anyways, Bwana and the whole Infinite Machine roster is this weeks Bummer Bliss. I figure that should make up for the week or 2 I missed. Such an amazing label with some great artists making futuristic heartbeats to the tune of two step. Yeah.. it’s good.

New Artist: Bummer Bliss : SEA GOWN/SEA GOWN EP

sea gown

SEA GOWN / SEA GOWN

SEA GOWN -He watches me

Free album: get it while its hot!

Through a blue-green glow of halogen headlight electronic fog, the night stars pulse and fade. The air hangs sweet and strange, the cosmik tides rush in a throbbing heartbeat rhythm; lapping at naive feet learning to dance the last rave of a dreaming island’s eternal adolescence. The moon’s reflection is rippling soft like a voice through sharp clockwork fractal waves… radio waves pushing, echoing from fading futures, ghost signals from Moroder’s Metropolis, crackle into being: forgotten/hidden love poems written on digital delay. The key and the engine turn, the last drag burns, and the wheels find the road as our night drives into sunrise. Sea Gown is the stereo soundtrack. This weeks Bummer Bliss. Enjoy.

SEA GOWN // SEA GOWN by Peter Densmore

Peter Densmore, the dude behind SEA GOWN, was visiting friends in his hometown of Carbondale over break and unassumingly left a CDR of a new project he had been working on. After sifting its way through the layers of beer cans and loose records produced by an average weekend it was picked up on a whim and popped into a laptop and thusly revealed as thee proverbial jam, a true joint, a diamond in the rough. The influences can be heard quite clearly (the lessons from Moroder paid in full), and the sound shares ground with Synthpop Statesmen like John Maus and M83, but Sea Gown is unmistakably developing its own zones.

We here at Bummer Bit are as stoked to share it as we are to see where it goes.

Bummer Bliss – Bombay Bicycle Club – Shuffle (Bibio Remix)

Bombay Bicycle Club

Bombay Bicycle Club – Shuffle (Bibio Remix)

Bombay Bicycle Club – ‘Lights Out, Words Gone’ (Rub A Dub version)

This weeks Bummer Bliss is a good one for me. Bombay Bicycle Club was the one of the first bands I ever blogged about and with their newest album “A Different Kind Of Fix” they bring back where they left off from their early demo and “I had the Blues But Shook Them Loose” to brilliant indie pop and Jack Steadman’s waverying yet indie pop ready vocals. While their acoustic effort “Flaws” was brilliant and showed another side of BBC, Their new album brought the Indie kiddies into Indie pop greats by bringing back their old popy post punk rock sound. I am more than impressed. I know this is way late in the game and they are large enough to not need free publicity but I’ve been following these kids since they where just a blip on the radar and I’m glad to see they are getting the recognition they finally deserve. They are and will be one of my Top 5 Indie Rock bands. This Bibio Remix is especially chilling and personal as is the “lights out, Words Gone rub a dub” version. These are this weeks Bummer Bliss.

 Crooked Prince

Cat Copeland – Crooked Prince //// Small Time Crooks EP //// Single by Bummer Bit

I found this the other day and was blown away at the extremly original sound Cat Copeland posseses. His songwriting and vocals are extremely catching and keep em locked. That paired with his crooked thugs makes for a garage gazey do-it-yourself wetdream. This looks like it will be the first or second release on the offshoot label of Bummerbit.com. Bummer Bliss.

 Acid Glasses – Jpeg Hoarder

When I met mild-mannered Memphis garage rocker, Nick Burk (touring with friends in the awesome band Kruxe), he struck me as a pretty chill and lucid dude.

However, behind the glowing edges of his bedroom laboratory, from the druggy late night witching hours to the hallucinogenic comedown dawn, he unleashes crazed cascades of bent, psychotropic-mutated pop pastiche as his aptly named alter ego ACID GLASSES.

Slow Magic’s “ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σ.” #3 via Fake Diamonds Clothing

slow magic

 Slow Magic ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σ. #3

(Fake Diamonds Clothing edition)

ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σ. #3 (Fake Diamonds Clothing) by Slow Magic

Our mysterious, hardest working, and favorite artist in the electronic industry at the moment (in my opinion at least) dropped a quick 20-minute signature ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σ for Fake Diamonds Clothing (another fave) today, making that his third mix thus far. I know, we just posted about Slow Magic, but he really is our favorite over here at Bummer Bit.  As explained in the post below, he priemered his first ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σ  right here on Bummer Bit Radio, which was amazing, considering at the time our site wasn’t even finished. He was the first person I’ve contacted to do a guest mix. Surprisingly, he was more than happy to do it (and so was I). His newest track “moon” that dropped a few days ago, almost completes his album, though it is still up in the air on who will distribute it or what label he will go with. He has said that he expects a vinyl release in the EU under a smaller label, with a few big names on it. I won’t disclose anymore on this because it isn’t set in stone yet. But seriously; why hasnt this man been signed in th U.S.?!? He’s got chops, he’s got the skill, he’s gained a fan base pretty much all by himself with only bloggers promoting him. I would kill to see him get signed to an amazing label like Ghostly or moodgadget. Sam Valenti IV!!  Jakub!!! Scott Hansen!!! This man needs signed. If I had the money to press vinyl, I would be on this like a heartbeat.  Think about it. He fits right in. Graphic designer, glowing beats, slo-fi bliss. I don’t know. I’m a huge fan of moodgadget/ghostly/iso50 and I really think he fits in one of those. He deserves the recognition they could give him. Just think, a Slow Magic Ghostlycast?!?!!? I can dream can’t I? I hope Jakub or Scott read this and truly take into consideration the perfect fitting of a Slow Magic addition. He’s not just hype; he’s the real deal, folks.

Bonus: the design above is another one of  Slow’s fantastic designs  and will be the cover of his new LP which which hasn’t officially been announced yet . Fake Diamonds Clothing  willl be releasing a shirt design in colaboriation with  Slow Magic’s release.

You can d/l the mix on Fake Diamonds blog

Yo Lust… holla at me when that’s ready. :D
