Bathetic Records OG Cough Cool just dropped LATLEY, a perfect mesh of tape hiss and shoegaze pop right in time to warm our ears with hot blooded sincerity beating true and real underneath a gauzy haze of warm opiate apathy. Cough Cool seems to come from a parallel universe’s underground sounds, where the earnest textures of Seattle sounds, simplified and stripped of ostentatious riffage, grew up with a sense of psych play and found life in cassette culture instead of MTV. A tried & true Philly dude (peep the cover art, and this bitchin’ vid, if you doubt) Mr. Cool himself nonetheless gives big ups to Jersey’s own Boss, and maybe its just me but I can hear the lo-fi lessons learned from the both bleak and humanist masterpiece Nebraska read through a distorted haze- these jams are slow burners for the winter. Keep warm.
Wave Twisters is a 45 minute dj turntable scratch sci-fi stoner cartoon movie and it even has a PLOT. I think. In this cartoon this chick has been hypnotized into thinking she’s an ostrich.. so she’s running around as one. But in her brain some sort of psychic ghost of her human self is running around trying to kill the poisonous psychokinetic sound waves.. no wait I guess it’s the evil overlords lair. Anyway, that was just a snatch of it most of it is cyber warfare spaceship battles and dj showdowns. It references all sorts of old nerdy games and movies and is hilarious but the best part is the music is fucking sick, I love turntableism and scratching and weird effects thrown in and this thing has it all. Its fast paced so you gotta be in the mood to have your brain blasted into hyperspace, I recommend at least toasting the afterburners if you know what I mean. I mean smoke a joint and drop yourself into the warp speed couch. Oh and I think DJ Q-Bert is the main man behind the music here.
As a final farewell…. i will be using altered zones backgrounds all week. as a tribute.. you will be missed Altered Zones ♥ ~ respect… lets build this back up.
This is an unreleased album by some of my best friends in Carbondale il. I dont have permission to play this but i dont care.. its great.. Maybe they’ll let me release it later. This was a side project of good friend Cat Copeland. He has a few bands which are very much worth checking out. I will post a sample up later But you can check out their facebooks. When I met mild-mannered Memphis garage rocker, Nick Burk (touring with friends in the awesome band Kruxe), he struck me as a pretty chill and lucid dude.
However, behind the glowing edges of his bedroom laboratory, from the druggy late night witching hours to the hallucinogenic comedown dawn, he unleashes crazed cascades of bent, psychotropic-mutated pop pastiche as his aptly named alter ego ACID GLASSES.
Our mysterious, hardest working, and favorite artist in the electronic industry at the moment (in my opinion at least) dropped a quick 20-minute signature ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σ. for Fake Diamonds Clothing(another fave) today, making that his third mix thus far. I know, we just posted about Slow Magic, but he really is our favorite over here at Bummer Bit. As explained in the post below, he priemered his first ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σright here on Bummer Bit Radio, which was amazing, considering at the time our site wasn’t even finished. He was the first person I’ve contacted to do a guest mix. Surprisingly, he was more than happy to do it (and so was I). His newest track “moon” that dropped a few days ago, almost completes his album, though it is still up in the air on who will distribute it or what label he will go with. He has said that he expects a vinyl release in the EU under a smaller label, with a few big names on it. I won’t disclose anymore on this because it isn’t set in stone yet. But seriously; why hasnt this man been signed in th U.S.?!? He’s got chops, he’s got the skill, he’s gained a fan base pretty much all by himself with only bloggers promoting him. I would kill to see him get signed to an amazing label likeGhostly or moodgadget. Sam Valenti IV!! Jakub!!! Scott Hansen!!! This man needs signed. If I had the money to press vinyl, I would be on this like a heartbeat. Think about it. He fits right in. Graphic designer, glowing beats, slo-fi bliss. I don’t know. I’m a huge fan of moodgadget/ghostly/iso50 and I really think he fits in one of those. He deserves the recognition they could give him. Just think, a Slow Magic Ghostlycast?!?!!? I can dream can’t I? I hope Jakub or Scott read this and truly take into consideration the perfect fitting of aSlow Magic addition. He’s not just hype; he’s the real deal, folks.

spf5Ø who’s a part of the Aural Sects takes Kloaks grungey witch chugger and screws it into this masterpiece that I havent been able to stop listening to. I already loved the original Kloaks track but this version is much more fun and not over done with the stutters and chops. Well done Kloaks and spf5Ø. Im happy to award you this weeks Bummer Bliss.
